From handwritten letters to old journals, everything sounded just a little bit more poetic 90 years ago… even if the sentiments have stayed the same.

Twitter user @_ellaroberts shared a note her great-grandmother penned in 1925 on Twitter this week, and it has gone hugely viral for its hilarious thesis: men are trash.

“There is no faith in a man/ Not even in a brother/ So girls if you must love/ Love one another,” the woman wrote in gorgeous cursive lettering.

“My grandmother’s 1925 version of ‘men are trash,'” Ella joked. The catchy poem has garnered over 400,000 likes at the time of writing, and people want this verse cross-stitched on their sweaters, painted on their walls, and tattooed on their bodies.

Of course, there are people protesting the whimsical note, calling it divisive and generalizing — but for the most part, people seem amused by the poetic advice.

I love your grandmother very, very much.

1920s women: they’re just like us.
